Urban Canopy is a residential interior design project created for an apartment in Cluj-Napoca, designed for a family with one child. The main challenge of the project was the natural integration of all required functions within an undersized open-plan layout, while maintaining a sense of openness, comfort, and visual clarity.

Designed by arh. Laura Ciobanu (Designoir Interiors), the concept responds to the clients’ request for a bright, modern, and urban interior that would also feel warm and welcoming. Natural wood finishes, neutral tones, soft green accents, and carefully balanced lighting were used to create a cohesive atmosphere throughout the apartment. Curved architectural details and clean volumes help soften the space and enhance spatial flow between the living, dining, and kitchen areas.

Instead of relying on standard solutions, Urban Canopy follows a personalized interior design approach focused on functionality and everyday usability. Custom furniture, integrated storage, and thoughtful zoning ensure that the open space supports family life without feeling crowded or fragmented. Each area is clearly defined while remaining visually connected, allowing the apartment to feel larger and more fluid.

The little girl's room was designed as a contrasting yet complementary space, following the brief of a “dreamy and whimsical” atmosphere. Inspired by the idea of a walk through the forest, the room introduces a soft, narrative layer to the project, creating a calm and imaginative environment tailored to a child’s daily life.

Urban Canopy reflects a balanced approach to contemporary urban living, where aesthetics, functionality, and warmth coexist naturally. The result is a bright, modern apartment interior designed to support family life while remaining timeless, calm, and highly functional.
