Our interior design project in Cluj is a testament to the fact that aesthetics and functionality can go hand in hand to create an exceptional space. The kitchen, the heart of the home, is a spacious and well-organized area where every detail has been carefully chosen to create an exceptional culinary experience.

Past Forward is a home in Cluj-Napoca, located in the Era Hexagon residential development, shaped around colour, personality and a shared appreciation for mid-century and retro design. Rather than recreating a particular era, the interior borrows from its visual language: warm wood, tactile materials, graphic patterns, distinctive lighting and playful colour and brings it into a contemporary setting.
The open-plan living area sets the tone through a layered palette of dusty aqua, walnut, coral and deep burgundy. Glossy textured kitchen fronts sit alongside warm wood and a graphic backsplash, while fluted glass, rounded furniture and carefully selected objects introduce subtle vintage references. Records, artwork, plants and collected pieces make the space feel personal rather than styled around a fixed aesthetic.
Colour continues throughout the apartment, changing in character from one room to another. The burgundy entrance creates a bold transition into the softer living space, while the bedroom takes a quieter approach through muted olive, warm wood and dusty rose. The home office introduces softer greens alongside walnut and sculptural lighting, creating a space that feels both functional and individual.
Throughout the project, retro influences were treated as references rather than rules. Familiar forms are balanced by clean contemporary volumes, custom furniture and practical storage, allowing character to emerge through material, colour and detail without turning the interior into a period piece.
Past Forward is ultimately about authenticity: a contemporary home with echoes of the past, designed around the people who live in it: colourful, collected and confidently personal.
